Foraging walks & workshops in Somerset
Discover the abundance of wild foods, herbal medicines, and seasonal ingredients that can be found and foraged in beautiful Somerset.

why somerset?
Somerset is home to some of the UK’s most diverse landscapes, from the rolling Mendip Hills and the open Levels, to sheltered woodland and moorland edges. These environments are rich in edible and medicinal herbs, wild fruits and fungi, offering foragers a remarkable seasonal bounty.

what we'll find
What we'll discover on our foraging walks and workshops will be completely different depending on what season you join us in! In Spring, expect vibrant and tasty leaves and wild veggies, in summer, ripe juicy nuts and berries and in autumn, it's all about mushrooms!

what's included
Learn to identify and gather edible wild plants, herbs, and mushrooms, safely and sustainably. Learn the history, folklore, and traditional uses of Somerset’s plants and sample some delicious seasonal recipes, teas, and natural remedies.
Every workshop is followed by a PDF to help with your future foraging forays.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION & LOCATIONS
Our seasonal foraging walks and workshops in Somerset are usually around 2 hours of fairly slow paced walking, stopping frequently to talk about the plants and fungi we pass. The group size is limited to 12 guests, to ensure everyone can join in and ask questions throughout the session. The session always finishes with food! A selection of exciting wild dishes and drinks will be provided to give everyone an idea of the flavours the seasonal ingredients we meet can provide us.
Where we are in Somerset will depend on what we're looking for! Most workshops will be located in South Somerset, however we may want to go over to Exmoor for bilberry season, or visit the coastline when there is lots of edible seaweed and shellfish on offer. After booking your foraging workshop in Somerset, full location details will be sent to you via email 2 weeks before the workshop.

your foraging guide

Hello! I'm Fern, and I'll be your guide and wild food cook for your Somerset foraging workshop.
Having moved to Somerset last year, I immediately set about finding foraging locations that could provide us with a diverse range of plants all through the season and I was so happy with what I found. There are some wonderful edible greens, flowers and fungi in Somerset and I'm so excited to share them with you!
My passions lie in finding free and nutritious food, folklore and plant history. I aim to provide a fun and welcoming space for all my guests and I look forward to meeting you!
